I've updated my PC with some components lately, though I still stick to socket 939 and AGP port.
Because I did not want to buy a new mainboard and therefor would have had to reinstall everything (and I am not talking about a handful selection of programs...no. At the moment there are hundreds of applications installed, various tweaked with my own liking settings - thanks to freeware and open source.), I bought an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400
, Toledo core with 2x 1024 KB level 2 cache and two 1 GB DDR Ram, running in Dual Channel mode.
Today my hardware retailer finally sent me my brand new XFX 7950 GT
with 512MB GDDR3 Ram, replacing my "old" 6600 GT
by Asus. Again, due to the unwilling re-installation problem, I've bought the AGP version to fire up my 22" wide-screen TFT LCD AL2216W by Acer
.
Below you'll find product images of these 2 cards followed by Futuremark
3DMark05 and 3DMark06 benchmarks, executed at normal/default settings (3DMark05 and 3DMark06 don't identify the 7950 GT correct yet).

In conclusion I can definetely say that this purchase was worth the money.
